Melvin’s Mobile Market
In Vihiga County, Kenya, Melvin runs a mobile kiosk while raising five children, showing that local business can be integrated with child-rearing.
Melvin is a mother of five and member of the Tambua Sifa Women’s Group, a women’s group that received a grant from RSWR in 2023. Melvin operates a small market kiosk that moves from village to village. Through Melvin’s women’s group, she gained access to training in financial management and record-keeping. The flexibility of her mobile stall allows her to bring fresh goods to rural communities while balancing family life. “My children see me working hard, and they see how women can support each other,” she says. Her story reflects the practical creativity and community care that define RSWR’s approach.
