Income Generating Project for Marginalized Women
Project Coordinator: Mrs. M. Bajeera

Two women from each of twenty self-help groups are beneficiaries for the project. The target women are destitute women expelled by husbands due to dowry harassment and widows without other means of support. Eight trades have been selected. Each woman will receive a loan according to the trade. They will repay the loans, beginning the 3rd month, $6 per month. Anticipated economics are:

From Dr. R. Kannan’s site visit report, “Mrs. M. Bajeera, has been working in this field for the past 25 years. Her husband, also a development worker, helps Mrs. Bajeera run the organization. The organization and organizer live in the target area. Women members are actively participating in the discussion. They are maintaining the records of minutes and accounts. All the beneficiaries have good knowledge of income generation activities of their choice.”
