Conservation of Traditional Vegetables and Fruits
Project Coordinator: Mrs. P. Sundari
The beneficiaries are 40 landless women. 20 acres of land will be leased for planting in traditional varieties of plants. Local and traditional seeds/seedlings will be purchased for the project. Manure and pesticides will be produced by the women who will receive needed trainings by agriculture specialists. The women will be trained on cultivation, harvesting, processing and marketing and manure and panchakaviam production.

From Dr. R. Kannan’s site visit report, “WEDT is run by Mrs. P.Sundari, a widow with good energy and spirit to do good for disadvantaged women. WEDT and Mrs. Sundari have organized 80 women’s self-help groups. There is a clarity about the project among the women. Activities are traditional and well known by the women. All the women are well versed about the economics of the project.”
