Alleviating Economic Crisis and Hunger

25 women from self-help groups in Velaiyakkonpatti, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu are participating in this one-year project. The women will engage in a two-day training in Turkish hen-rearing. They will also have an exposure visit as part of the training, and will then be given 20 Turkish fowl, 16 female and 4 male.

From Dr. R. Kannan’s site visit report, “My discussion with a few of the members revealed that all the members have an interest and involvement in the proposed turkey-rearing project. There is a good demand for turkey in the nearby town.”
