Rural Women Economic Development through Self-Help Groups

The beneficiaries are all scheduled caste (formerly called "Untouchable") and tribal (outside the caste system) women. Each of the 10 self-help groups has two elected leaders. This project will give three days of intensive training to all the women in each self-help group. Initially, loans will be given to six members in each of the ten self-help groups.

From Dr. R. Kannan’s site visit report, “PPESociety has an office and training center at Vadamalpet. Sixty women members from self-help groups were gathered and organized trainings related to micro-credit. They shared their experiences related to hand embroidery and its good market. The General Secretary, Mrs. Indira is a master trainer in handicrafts and also experienced organizer.”
