Five Income-Generating Projects

The thirty beneficiaries were workers in local brick production units which have closed due to shortage of local suitable clay soil. The women will be trained for two weeks on self-employment activities and then will engage in one of five projects. Each woman will receive a loan of $130, be repaid in 12 installments at 12% interest. Anticipated economics are:

From Dr. R. Kannan’s site visit report, “CORE is run by a widow, Ms. M. Padma. CORE is small, newly formed organization with two women staff. They have formed twelve self-help groups. Target women are all laborers, working in brick-making industries and have part-time employment.”
