Fish, Sorghum, Maize and Bean Sales
Project Coordinator - Mrs. Rosemary Jahenda
Twenty-seven women, members of Vokoli Yearly Meeting, are participating in this one year project. They will be organized into four groups with three groups of seven and one group of six. Each of these groups will engage in either fish, sorghum, beans or maize sales. Loans will be repaid monthly at 2% interest per month after a two month grace period. The repaid loans will be used to give more loans to members who will have fully cleared their loans to expand their existing projects and to non-members in our church and the community to venture into new micro projects. The women currently engage in a merry-go-round and contribute $4 each per month and repay those loans at 5% interest. Anticipated economics are:

From the Aquavis site visit report, “IFWG has very capable leadership that is focused on alleviating poverty in the community through Quaker women. The leaders have, on several occasions, organized capacity-building before embarking on small-scale businesses. The women have accumulated a lot of knowledge about micro-enterprises through these trainings. The women in the group have a vision of what they are, what they are trying to do and what they intend to achieve as a group. They have the advantage of being close to market centers and therefore have been able to greatly diversify their business activities.”
